Rooted, Not Rushed: A Morning Rhythm for the Faith-Filled Mama

Today, on my birthday, I’m choosing to slow down and be intentional. As a mama of five, life can feel like a whirlwind. But I’m learning that God invites us into a different rhythm — one where we are rooted, not rushed. I want to share that journey with you.

The Problem with Rushed Mornings
Mornings in our home used to be chaotic. I’d wake up late, scramble to get breakfast ready, rush through devotions, and then feel like I was chasing the clock all day. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. When we rush, we miss the quiet moments God offers to meet us.

Why God Invites Us to Be Rooted
Colossians 2:7 says, “…rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” This verse reminds me that the strength I need each day comes from being deeply connected to Jesus — not from doing more or moving faster.

My Morning Rhythm
Now, I start my day with a cup of hot tea and a few minutes in the Word. I breathe, pray, and let my heart settle before the busyness begins. Breakfast is simple, nourishing, and shared with my kids when possible. I’m learning to let go of perfection and embrace the peace God gives in these moments.

Encouragement for You
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that it’s okay to start small. Maybe it’s five quiet minutes with your Bible or a slow sip of coffee before the day takes over. You don’t have to do it all at once — just be rooted, not rushed.
